(Georgetown) On June 16-18, 2025, Sussex Technical High School hosted Raven Academy for their rising 9thgrade students. The program, designed to ease the 2025-2026 freshman class into high school life, connected them with future classmates, introduced them to the school’s Career and Technical Education (CTE) programs, and provided campus tours.
The students participated in fun/social and academic activities, identified their strengths in English and math, and took career and skills related surveys to begin thinking about which CTE programs suit their interests, goals, and skills.
The Academy also provided participating students the opportunity to meet school administrators, teachers, and upper classman, who volunteered as peer mentors during the three days.
“Our main goal was to help our incoming freshman class build a sense of community before their first year of high school, “said principal, John Baugher. “Our hope is their participation in Raven Academy allows them to experience a smooth transition with new friends when returning for the new school year in August.
Sussex Technical High School is a public school which prepares Sussex County, DE students for their future success in workforce environments, higher education, and military.
