The Delaware River and Bay Lighthouse Foundation would like to wish a happy centennial birthday to the Harbor of Refuge Lighthouse. The lighthouse was first put into service on November 15, 1926. The Foundation and its volunteers have been restoring the lighthouse since the early 2000’s. Due to weather, the 100th anniversary cruise has been rescheduled for June 27, 2027. Tickets will be available at a time to be announced next Spring.

Currently tours to the lighthouse have been suspended due to restrictions placed on the Foundation by the US Army Corps of Engineers. Concerns over the potential failure of the breakwater have prompted an ongoing conversation on the possibility of relocating the lighthouse to land. Moving the structure would both ensure its survival as well as make it accessible to the public for tours and other educational activities which celebrate the maritime history of our community.
