Delaware Transit Corporation (DTC) is happy to announce that DART’s 27th annual “Stuff The Bus” Thanksgiving Food Drive collected 15,013 pounds of food. The week-long food drive took place from November 4 to November 9 at the Giant Food in Rehoboth, Dover Target, Rodney Square in Wilmington, and the ShopRite stores at First State Plaza, Brandywine Commons and Four Seasons Shopping Centers.
“Every year we are reminded of the generosity of so many with the significant amount of food collected for those in need. Stuff The Bus supports the Food Bank of Delaware’s mission to end hunger in Delaware and we are thankful for the support,” said Secretary of Transportation Nicole Majeski.
John Sisson, DTC’s Chief Executive Officer, stated “The 27th year of Stuff the Bus was another huge success. I’m always so proud of the generosity of the DTC, DelDOT and DMV employees, business partners, bus riders, and the community, whose generous donations will help out their fellow Delawareans in need of food assistance.”
Donations were received from the general public, as well as businesses, schools, organizations and state agencies throughout Delaware, including the employees from DART, DelDOT, DMV and the Toll Plazas. DART thanks all its partners, with a special thank you to Sharp Energy, who donated a total of $5,000 worth of food. Sharp Energy’s donation was loaded onto a DART propane autogas paratransit bus, fueled by Sharp.
Thanks to the staff and listeners from Delaware 105.9, EAGLE 97.7 FM, The Chicken 101.3 FM and WSTW 93.7 FM, all part of Forever Media Inc.
