DOVER — In front of a crowd of top state officials, community leaders, and supporters earlier today, Kyle Evans Gay made a promise to lead with vision and collaboration, as Delaware’s 27th Lieutenant Governor.
She made this declaration during a historic inauguration, held at Delaware State University, where Governor Matt Meyer, became 76th Governor of the First State. In their separate addresses, they both shared the same resolve to be bold leaders that prioritize innovation in the pursuit of a brighter future for all Delawareans.
“It was crucial that at the end of my first address, every Delawarean knew what they should expect to see from the Office of the Lieutenant Governor. As I said this morning, our Office will serve as a bridge, valuing expansive partnership, to promote catalytic policy change that will make a measurable difference in the lives of the people we serve. It is one of my greatest honors to be the next Lt. Governor, and I am ready to roll up my sleeves and get to work,” stated Kyle Evans Gay, Lt. Governor.
Lt. Governor Gay is getting right to work, in the midst of inaugural events, she will preside over the Delaware State Senate for the first time at 2 p.m. today.
“Her inaugural address captured it perfectly. Our office is excited and ready to do what we love to do most, serve the neighbors of the First State. We want to reach Delawareans where they are, in every corner of the state, and we know that will require coalition-building. Above all else, what we value most is to lead not with words, but our actions, and I look forward to the progress we will make in the coming weeks,” said Sarah Stowens E.D., Chief of Staff of the Office of the Lt. Governor.
