Stand By Me Next Gen, a non-profit organization from the State of Delaware and the United Way of Delaware, will host a free college finance workshop on Thursday, January 15 at 5:30 PM at the Lewes Public Library, 111 Adams Avenue in Lewes.
Financial experts will present “Paying for College” from 5:30-6:30 PM, an overview of the many options available to families to get help paying for college. The goal is to inform students and parents about government grants, scholarships, loans, Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) application procedures, and additional services and programs provided by Stand by Me NexGen.
From 6:30-7:30 PM, interested participants may stay for a FAFSA completion workshop. Students and families will receive hands-on, individualized support completing the 26-27 FAFSA, which is required for students to receive federal and state aid, as well as an increasing proportion of scholarship aid. The average FAFSA can take 30-45 minutes to complete.

“Paying for college can feel like an overwhelming and complicated task for many families,” said Jennifer Noonan, Lewes Library Youth Services Director. “Stand By Me Next Gen does a wonderful job making sense of the financial aid process and highlights the many ways students can take advantage of scholarships, including opportunities to go to many Delaware higher education institutions for free.”
