June 25, 2010 – Georgetown, DE – The classic adventure “Around the World in 80 Days” has been turned into a play by Mark Brown, and will be performed at Possum Hall by the Possum Juniors on July 14-18. Tickets may be reserved for just $10.00 by calling the Possum ticketline at 302/856-4560.
High School Senior and Possum Junior President Conor Small of Lewes is directing the Possum Junior (PJ) production for this season. The cast of 24 includes youth from throughout the area.
The cast includes a cross-section of Sussex and Wicomico County talent, some familiar to the Possum audiences, and some new to this theater. This humorous play takes the audience on the travels of Phileas Fogg, played by John Hare of Seaford, with Devon Lynch of Georgetown as his fastidious French manservant Monsieur Passepartout. The two are being chased by Detective Fix, but they cannot be sure if Fix – a role taken by Lexi August of Rehoboth Beach – is for them or against them.
Come join Possum Point Players and watch these world-travelers rescue a damsel in distress, combat the natives while crossing the American wilderness, jump a train off the tracks, miss their boat, find another, and overall race time and time zones in a vast journey. The writing is laced with humor, and the adventure speaks for itself.
Possum Juniors meets monthly during the school-year and produce a show every summer. They do everything from directing to acting and behind the scenes. It is a source of pride for them and for the theatre that the youth here are well-trained enough to produce a quality show.
Now is the time to order tickets for this family-friendly adventure. Audience-members are urged to reserve their tickets. “Everyone loves coming to the PJ show,” said Possum Executive Administrator Mary Cahill, “It’s always a fun one, and always positive for kids.”
Possum Point Players is accepting reservations for all five performances. Performances are at 7:00 p.m. on July 14-17, and at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday July 18. Tickets are $10.00, or $9.00 for Seniors and students. Please call the Possum Ticketline at 302/856-4560. Directions to the theater can also be obtained at that same number.
