A strong community starts with a great library, a place to read, learn, work, play, and connect. Thankfully, Rehoboth Beach has just that.
The downtown library serves more than 45,000 people each year, including residents, workers, and visitors. To continue meeting their needs, the Library Task Force and Board of Trustees approved conceptual designs in summer 2024 to renovate the downtown location. In November, Whiting Turner was hired as our Construction Manager to lead the project.
The renovation will bring much-needed repairs and upgrades to the building, along with flexible, modern meeting spaces for the community. Construction will be completed in phases so the library can remain open with limited services. Work is expected to begin in late 2025 and wrap up in late 2026. Throughout the process, its dedicated staff will continue serving the community.

This project ensures the downtown community can keep enjoying programs and services right in the heart of town. It is made possible through funding from an ARPA grant, State bond bill reimbursements, and the generosity of community donors.
They are also planning a second location on Warrington Road west of Route 1.
