WASHINGTON, D.C. — Congresswoman Sarah McBride (D-DE) issued the following statement in response to President Trump’s new executive order restricting the entry of citizens from 12 countries.
“President Trump’s latest travel ban is a revival of his first-term’s unconstitutional and discriminatory Muslim ban. Once again, his administration is targeting individuals from predominantly Muslim and African nations under the false pretense of national security. This isn’t about keeping Americans safe—it’s about stoking fear. And it undermines our nation’s core values of equality, fairness, and religious freedom.
“We can protect national security while upholding our basic constitutional and judicial principles. But for decades, Congress has largely abdicated its responsibility by failing to pass comprehensive immigration reform. It’s time for us to muster the moral courage to reassert our role.”
