CAESAR RODNEY SCHOOL DISTRICT: Caesar Rodney School District will be CLOSED for Students on January 27th, 2026. 10 and 12-month Staff are to work remotely.
CAPE HENLOPEN SCHOOL DISTRICT: Due to expected icy road conditions on back roads, in developments, and on sidewalks in many parts of our district, tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, will be a synchronous learning day for all students. This means your child will participate in live learning with their teacher for part of the school day. Each school will share specific plans, links, and details for the day by 9:00 a.m. for secondary students and by 10:00 a.m. for Pre-K and elementary students. Information about our remote learning procedures has also been shared over the past week through social media, Peachjar, and Blackboard. If you have any questions, please reach out directly to your child’s school. Attendance will be taken during Zoom sessions. We look forward to seeing students online tomorrow.
COLONIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT: All schools will be Closed Tuesday, January 27th and Offices will be Open
CHRISTINA SCHOOL DISTRICT: Christina School District Schools Closed, Offices Remote
Due to the recent winter storm and hazardous road conditions caused by snow and ice, all schools in the Christina School District will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. Preschool Programs, Adult Education, Continuing Education Classes, and Distance Learning classes are also canceled. Offices will operate remotely.
All 12-Month staff will work remotely. Custodial and Maintenance staff will receive instructions from their supervisors.
DELMAR SCHOOL DISTRICT: Due to inclement weather the Delmar School District will be closed to students and 10/11th month employees on 1/27/26.
LAKE FOREST SCHOOL DISTRICT: All Lake Forest Schools and Offices will be closed Tuesday January 27th, 2026 due to the snow and freezing temperatures.
LAS AMERICAS ASPIRA ACADEMY: All ASPIRA DE Schools will be virtual (asynchronous learning) on Tuesday, 1/27/26.
MILFORD SCHOOL DISTRICT: Due to ongoing icy conditions at district facilities, the Milford School District will be closed for all students and non-essential employees tomorrow, January 27, 2026. Students should begin the prepared asynchronous activities provided by teachers. All non-essential employees should reference the District’s School Closure Outline for further instructions. Essential employees should report as directed.
SUSSEX TECHNICAL SCHOOL DISTRICT: On Tuesday, January 27, Sussex Technical High School will operate on a Remote Day schedule.
Students should log in to their classes during their assigned Zoom sessions with their teachers. Zoom links for all courses, along with any additional classroom materials, can be found on Schoology.
Once again Tuesday, January 27, Sussex Technical High School will operate on a Remote Day schedule.
INDIAN RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT: Due to continued concerns about icy conditions, especially in the northern end of the district, all Indian River School District schools will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. The district’s Inclement Weather Plan will be in effect. Students should participate in asynchronous learning activities. Administrators and 12-month non-instructional specialists have the option of working remotely. Administrators, teachers and paraprofessionals will follow the remote Inclement Weather Plan schedule. School custodians will receive instructions from their chiefs. All other employees, including administrative assistants, should not report to work. Please be reminded that high school exams will begin on the next in-person school day for students. More details will be provided by your school administration.
SUSSEX ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES: Due to extremely low temperatures and icy conditions, all Sussex Academy campuses will be closed on Tuesday, January 27. Tomorrow will be a remote learning day for all students. Teachers will communicate attendance and learning expectations directly with our students and families.
SMYRNA SCHOOL DISTRICT: Due to anticipated weather conditions, all Smyrna School District schools will be closed January 27, 2026. All 12 month essential staff should await further instructions from their respected supervisors, while all 10 and 12 month non-essential staff will work remotely and await further instruction.
Other closures
Tuesday’s House of Representatives – Session Cancelled Due to Inclement Weather
DOVER – Due to the winter storm that brought snow and ice to much of Delaware, House Speaker Melissa Minor-Brown has announced that the House will not convene on Tuesday, January 27.
The cancellation includes the House Economic Development/Banking/Insurance & Commerce Committee and House Labor Committee meetings.
The House is scheduled to reconvene at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, January 28.
All committee meetings for the remainder of the week are slated to begin at their previously scheduled times. A listing of upcoming House committee meetings can be found here.
Courts
Due to inclement weather, the Kent County Courthouse and Kent County Family Court in Dover will remain closed on Tuesday, Jan. 27, 2026. All other Delaware Court facilities will be operating as normal.
Kent County State Offices: Kent County State Offices open at 10 a.m. on January 27, 2026; New Castle and Sussex Operate on a Regular Schedule. On Tuesday, January 27, 2026, State of Delaware offices in Kent County will open at 10 a.m. Non-essential employees who live or work in Kent County do not report until 10 a.m. Essential employees designated for severe weather are to report as scheduled.
State of Delaware offices in New Castle and Sussex Counties will operate on their regular schedule.
Wilmington Public Libraries: Due to inclement weather and potentially hazardous road conditions, the Wilmington and North Wilmington Public Libraries will be closed on Tuesday, January 27.
City of Wilmington: Mayor Carney has lifted the State of Emergency in the City of Wilmington effective immediately. City offices will open tomorrow, Tuesday, January 27, at normal business hours. Due to current and expected weather conditions, parks will reopen for recreational use, but camping will not be permitted.
