Springboard Delaware, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building affordable communities that foster health equity, upward mobility, and long-term stability for individuals and families in need, is celebrating two years of progress since being founded during the pandemic in 2020 and opening its doors in January 2023.
Springboard’s mission is to create innovative housing solutions that address the root causes of homelessness and provide a pathway to permanent housing, economic independence, and improved well-being.
The organization believes that everyone deserves a safe, stable place to call home, focusing on developing sustainable housing communities, Low Barrier Navigation Centers (LBNCs) and Springboard Cottage Communities, which provide not only shelter but also access to essential services like healthcare, job training, and education. Their approach is centered on creating supportive environments where residents can thrive, build meaningful connections, and work toward self-sufficiency.
Springboard has seen tremendous early results. Over 36% of participants have not returned to unsheltered homelessness, over 97% have received wrap-around services including substance-use or mental health services as well as connected to medical care providers, and over 30% have gained employment.
“We have created a path out of homelessness for many people since opening in January 2023. Over one hundred people have been through the program, and ALL have had a history of homelessness in the area. We have already changed lives in just two short years. People are getting better healthcare, mental healthcare, and help to quell addictions and find jobs. Many participants are finding their way to self-sufficiency and permanent housing. We look forward to building on our successes to promote health, stability, and a pathway to permanent housing,” said Judson Malone, Executive Director, and Co-Founder of Springboard Delaware.
“Our work is based on creating strong partnerships with state government, community organizations, and private sector partners. Together, we leverage resources, expertise, and innovative approaches to tackle Delaware’s housing crisis and ensure that every person can achieve their full potential. As we continue to expand our impact, we remain committed to our core values of compassion, collaboration, and sustainability. Our credo is ‘All Housed, Vibrant Lives’ with a goal of Functional Zero Homelessness, which essentially means that Homelessness is rare, brief, and non-recurring”, said Jeffery Ronald, Springboard Delaware Co-Founder.
