(Georgetown, DE) Sussex Tech Adult Education is pleased to announce a new partnership with the Indian River School District to offer three English as a Second Language (ESL) classes for the parents of Indian River Students.  These classes are held at the Georgetown Middle School and will be staffed with Indian River employees to include three teachers, a paraprofessional, and a site coordinator.  Sussex Tech Adult Education will oversee the program, curriculum, testing, enrollment and manage attendance.  This collaboration allows for the accommodation of an additional 60-75 students.

This initiative is in addition to a current partnership for the Family Literacy program at North Georgetown Elementary School which is also led by Sussex Tech Adult Education with the Indian River School District providing snacks for the children.  This program is partially funded through an Arscht Cannon Foundation grant.   The Indian River School District also provides space for an ESL class at the Phillip Showell Elementary School, Selbyville.

“Sussex Tech Adult Education is thankful for Indian River’s partnership as we work toward our common goal of equipping members of our community with the necessary tools to obtain better jobs and provide for their families,” said Kelly Whaley, Director Sussex Tech Adult Education.
