Tuesday, March 10, 2026 — New Castle, DE — The Delaware Safety Council (DSC), the nation’s first state safety council, founded in 1919 and Delaware’s longest-standing provider of traffic, workplace, and community safety programs, is expanding its footprint with the launch of 302Safety — a new multi-state e-learning brand dedicated to modern, accessible driver safety education.

302Safety, named in honor of Delaware’s iconic single area code, will serve as the brand identity for DSC’s expansion of state-specific, online Defensive Driving Courses across the Mid-Atlantic region.

DSC has offered DMV-certified Defensive Driving Courses in Delaware since 1935 and online since the early 2000s. The first course to launch under the 302Safety brand is the Teen/Young Driver Defensive Driving Course, designed for drivers ages 16 to 22. This e-learning program will debut for Maryland, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania drivers beginning this spring.

“302Safety allows us to bring nearly a century of proven safety education to a new generation of drivers, delivered in a format that today’s learners genuinely prefer,” said Stacey Inglis, Executive Director/CEO of the Delaware Safety Council. “We are incredibly proud to expand beyond Delaware’s borders and ensure that young drivers throughout our region have access to highquality, state-specific defensive driving education.”

State-Specific Safety Education for Today’s Young Drivers

While inspired by the structure of Delaware DMV-certified programs offered under Delaware Safety Council within the state, 302Safety’s courses are uniquely designed to reflect each state’s laws, roadway signage, visuals, and safety requirements — including Zero Tolerance laws, Move Over laws, and Graduated Driver Licensing (GDL) rules.

For decades, DSC has offered Delaware’s only DMV-certified teen-specific safe driver course, which remains the sole approved provider. Because Delaware maintains one of the most comprehensive sets of course requirements in the country, insurance carriers in the surrounding areas of PA, MD, and NJ have traditionally accepted DSC certificates of completion for auto insurance discounts.

“Parents and young drivers deserve a course that prepares them to stay alive. That’s what we’ve built. 302Safety’s courses speak to young people in their language — visually, clearly, and with realworld relevance,” Inglis added.

Meeting the Demand for Flexible, Online Learning

Young drivers and families increasingly prefer online defensive driving courses for their convenience, self-paced structure, and cost effectiveness. National trends reinforce this shift: online learning has grown by 900% since 2000, and 70% of students report preferring online learning to traditional classroom environments. Studies also show that e-learning can improve retention by up to 50%.*

“Online learning isn’t the future — it’s the present. And 302Safety lets us meet students where they are while still delivering the same rigorous, research-based safety education that DSC has been known for since 1919,” said Inglis.

The 302Safety course is available to licensed drivers ages 16–22 at a nominal cost of $9.95 and is available online at 302Safety.org.
