The news just broke earlier today that Pope Francis is in critical condition. He has been hospitalized since February 14th and was diagnosed with double pneumonia and several other medical conditions.

National Catholic U.S. Talk Show Host and Veteran Journalist, Teresa Tomeo, is calling on everyone to continue to pray for our Holy Father and Catholics around the world, as the Pope is the leader of the Church worldwide and plays such an important role in their faith.

“Catholics and other supporters of the Pope, including other Christian leaders, not to mention world leaders and politicians, have all eyes on Rome. The Pope is the Vicar of Christ, and is this year leading Catholics through a historic Jubilee Year of Hope. While we all hope and pray that he improves, this is also a chance to reflect on the important role a Pope’s place is in the Church and the World. He is the head of Vatican City State and has great input on matters of faith and morals, as well as important issues and struggles in the world today, especially concerning world peace.”

Having served as Vatican speaker and International Delegate in Rome, half-time Italy resident, and leading Catholic Syndicated Morning Talk Show Host in America for EWTN‘s Global Catholic Radio Network for over 20 years, airing on 600+ radio stations nationwide every weekday, Tomeo has her finger on the pulse in terms of the Catholic Church, it’s leaders, it’s culture and especially the perspective from the pews. In addition to receiving countless emails from faithful Catholics each month, Tomeo also interviewed numerous cardinals, bishops, priests, and lay people regarding the life and legacy of Pope John Paul II, Pope Benedict XVI, and Pope Francis.

Under Pope Benedict’s reign as pontiff, Tomeo was one of a select group of international delegates invited to the Vatican Women’s Congress in Rome, in 2008. Tomeo also spoke at the Vatican conference “The Way Family is Perceived in Society,” presented by the Pontifical Council for the Family in 2013.

Teresa Tomeo has authored more than 12 books, including two about Italy. Her latest, “Italy’s Shrines and Wonders: Discovering Sacred Spaces, Fascinating Places, and Destinations off the Beaten Path” (EWTN Publishing) was released in January 2025. After two decades and over 60 trips to Italy, Teresa founded T’s Italy, an Italy Travel Consultation Company.
