Wilmington, DE – Today, 3rd District Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver, in partnership with First State Community Action Agency, announced the distribution of new air conditioning units to senior residents in her district.
Councilwoman Oliver has made an investment to ensure the safety and comfort of seniors in her district by hosting a “FREE Air Conditioners For Seniors 60+” events. As part of the event held on July 30, representatives from First State Community Action Agency’s HELP Program will meet with seniors from her district to apply for free air conditioners.

Those who apply and qualify will receive their free air conditioning unit or fan.
“Extreme heat is a silent killer,” said 3rd District Councilwoman Zanthia Oliver. “As I work with First State Community Action Agency’s HELP Program in my district, my goal is to make it healthier and more resilient. Our senior residents must be protected from the effects of climate change. Extreme heat puts them at a higher risk of injury and illness. The new air conditioners will help provide relief from the heat while also reducing energy costs.”
