This weekend’s forecast shows a winter storm headed to our region Saturday night through Monday morning. Mayor John Carney has issued a State of Emergency for Wilmington.

All emergencies, including power outages and health emergencies, should be reported to 911. 
Stay warm and stay safe.


Road Conditions
Wilmington residents should prepare to refrain from travel. The City’s Department of Public Works Street Cleaning Division is responsible for plowing and salting the streets. To view their snow plow tracker, operational plan, and the City Code regarding snow removal, please click here.

City Offices and Sanitation Pick Ups

City offices will be closed on Monday, January 26. Sanitation pick ups will not occur as scheduled on Monday and Tuesday and will resume on Wednesday, January 28.

Shelter


Shelter will be available through the Red Cross at the Wilmington PAL located at 3707 North Market Street.
Shelter for the unhoused will be available at 719 North Shipley Street and at the William Hicks Anderson Community Center, located at 501 North Madison Street.
City officials will continue to monitor conditions and will determine if additional shelters are needed.

Preparedness Tips
Prepare all necessary items: non-perishable food, medications, blankets and warm clothing, portable chargers, and first aid kits. Once you’ve prepared, check in with your neighbors, particularly the elderly. A comprehensive list of preparedness tips is available here.
