Wilmington, another storm is on the way. The forecast models differ on the exact accumulation, but we need to be prepared for every possibility.
Our teams have met, and our plan is in place, but we need your help. Please plan ahead and stock up on the supplies you need to stay safe: shovels, ice melt, flashlights, batteries, and any essential items your household relies on. Check on neighbors who may need assistance, especially seniors and those with mobility challenges. We all know the individuals on our blocks who may need extra support; let’s be good neighbors to one another.
Our crews began brining streets today and will continue tomorrow. 24 City of Wilmington plow trucks and drivers are ready to deploy, and contractors are on standby if additional support is needed.
We are expecting strong winds, which increases the likelihood of power outages. Charge your electronics now. If you lose power, please do not call 911; contact Delmarva Power directly.
Be mindful of where you park. Avoid parking too close to crosswalks or street corners so our crews have the space they need to safely access and plow the roads. If you can park in a garage, please do so. Our priority is to make primary streets, bus routes, hospital roads, and school streets passable as quickly as possible.
Updates will be available online at wilmingtonde.gov/snow.
Together, we can make sure Wilmington is ready for whatever this storm brings.
Sincerely,
Mayor John Carney
