GEORGETOWN, Del. — The Town of Georgetown has officially completed a vibrant new public art installation within its historic downtown centerpiece, The Circle. The project features 13 painted stars spanning the area’s crosswalks, utilizing the official state colors of Delaware blue and colonial yellow. Designed to honor the nation’s upcoming Semiquincentennial, this visual upgrade serves as a permanent kickoff to Georgetown’s local America 250 celebrations.

The 13 stars symbolize the original thirteen colonies, a nod to Delaware’s historic status as the First State to ratify the United States Constitution. Local officials and community volunteers gathered over the weekend to finalize the painting, transforming the high-traffic pedestrian walkways into a colorful tribute to American and Delaware heritage.

“The Circle is the heart of Georgetown, and this project brings our history directly to the footsteps of everyone who visits our downtown,” said Town Manager Gene Dvornick. “As the nation prepares to celebrate 250 years of independence, these Delaware blue and yellow stars will remind residents and visitors alike of our town’s deeply rooted connection to the American story.”

The crosswalk art initiative is the first of several planned community events and beautification projects aligned with the national America 250 celebration. The town utilized durable, traffic-grade road paint to ensure the stars remain bright and visible for years to come, safely guiding pedestrians while boosting local civic pride.

Other activities include the Georgetown Spirit of 1776 Artisan & Craft Festival (June 13, 2026), Reading of the Declaration of Independence (July 4, 2026), and an America 250 mural (being scheduled).

Residents are encouraged to visit The Circle, view the new installation, and share their photos on social media using the hashtag #GeorgetownAmerica250.
