HOY en Delaware

El 11 de junio se celebró por primera vez en Delaware, el Día de Puerto Rico. Se izó la bandera de Puerto Rico y el gobernador Meyer firmó la HB 290 que así lo designa. El “Green” de Dover se llenó de Plena, vibrantes sonidos, bailes, alegría y celebración.
Delaware y Puerto Rico comparten un vínculo de larga data, forjado por los miles de residentes puertorriqueños que han enriquecido la cultura, la vida comunitaria y la identidad de Delaware.
El proyecto de ley HB 290, impulsado por el representante Josué Ortega, fue promulgado a principios de este año y designa el 11 de junio como el “Día de Puerto Rico”, fecha que se conmemorará anualmente. El 11 de junio se reconoce como el día en que se creó la bandera de Puerto Rico, en 1891.
Puerto Rico Day was celebrated in Delaware for the first time on June 11. The Puerto Rican flag was raised, and Governor Meyer signed HB 290, officially designating the day. The Dover Green was filled with “Plena” music, vibrant sounds, dancing, joy, and celebration.
Delaware and Puerto Rico share a long-standing connection shaped by the thousands of Puerto Rico residents who have enriched Delaware’s culture, community life, and identity.

HB 290, sponsored by Rep. Josué Ortega, was enacted earlier this year, designating June 11th as “Puerto Rico Day” to be commemorated annually. June 11th is recognized as the date the Puerto Rican flag was created in 1891.
