LEWES (Nov. 3, 2025) – At 5:08 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 1, Beebe Healthcare ceremoniously activated MyChart, marking a monumental moment for the organization and its patients.

Beebe team members celebrated the culmination of years of planning, collaboration, and investment. The launch marks a major milestone in Beebe’s journey toward a more connected, patient-centered future. Dozens of additional team members have been working around the clock since Saturday and will continue to do so in the coming weeks to ensure a smooth patient experience.

Beebe patients and Sussex County residents can now sign up for a Beebe MyChart account, which will seamlessly connect their health records under one unified chart. Creating a Beebe account will also allow patients to join their records with MyChart accounts at other health systems.

“It is a transformational day at Beebe Healthcare,” said David A. Tam, MD, MBA, CPHE, FACHE, President & CEO, Beebe Healthcare. “Years of dedication and investment have culminated in this moment to create a single, unified electronic health record system that links every patient, clinician, and care setting. It is a comprehensive, patient-centered approach that is built for this community. I could not be prouder of this team that is truly dedicated to our patients or be more excited for the future of Beebe’s healthcare delivery in Sussex County.”

Dr. Tam continued: “We appreciate the community’s support during these first few days as our fully trained teams work diligently to apply their skills to the new system and ensure patients receive quality, timely care. Patient safety remains our top priority. Beebe is confident that this is the best path forward for the care for Sussex County, and once this transition is complete and more patients are using MyChart’s features, everyone will experience a more seamless patient experience at all of our care sites.”

A multi-year, organization-wide effort, implementing a new health record involves all team members, departments, and patients. One team in particular will continue to play a critical role in ensuring the system runs smoothly and securely: Beebe’s IT team.

“This launch reflects the incredible work of our IT team, who have been instrumental in building the systems that make this transformation possible,” said Mike Maksymow, Chief Information Officer, Beebe Healthcare. “They are the quiet force behind the scenes, solving problems, supporting every department, and continuing to ensure that our technology works for the people who rely on it every day. I’d like to especially thank them for their tireless dedication.”

A More Unified Experience for Patients

Used by more than 190 million patients nationwide, MyChart offers a modern, easy-to-use design and mobile experience. With MyChart, Beebe patients can:

  • View health records and appointments
  • Send secure messages to their care team
  • Schedule select appointments online
  • Check in faster for visits
  • Manage billing and family health records

“MyChart transforms how patients and care teams connect,” said Kathy Tregear, Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer at Beebe Healthcare. “Patients can manage their health from anywhere, including viewing results, messaging their care team, and handling appointments with ease. For our nurses and clinicians, it means more time focused on care and less time spent on paperwork. It enhances the patient experience and strengthens the way we deliver care.”

Community Impact Outside of Clinical Walls

MyChart also enhances Beebe’s ability to serve the broader community, especially those who may face barriers to accessing care. With improved analytics, Beebe’s Community Outreach teams can identify health trends, address gaps in care, and proactively manage chronic conditions across Sussex County.

This also strengthens Beebe’s partnerships with community-based organizations and regional collaborators, helping address social determinants of health and improve overall community outcomes.

“MyChart is going to be foundational to how we care for our community in 2025 and beyond,” said Bill Chasanov, DO, MBA, Senior Vice President, and Chief Health Systems Design Officer at Beebe Healthcare, who led the MyChart implementation alongside Tregear and Maksymow. “With the advanced analytics and connectivity, we can identify health trends, close gaps in care, collaborate with local partners to address social determinants of health, and provide more seamless care to our community. This system gives us the tools to proactively improve health outcomes across Sussex County.”

Trusted by more than 3,700 hospitals and healthcare organizations, MyChart allows Beebe patients to securely share their health data with other providers and receive coordinated care outside Sussex County.

Time to Make MyChart, Your Chart!

Beebe patients can sign up for MyChart in a few ways. During your next visit to any Beebe location, ask a member of your care team for an activation code. You may also sign up online by visiting Beebe’s website.

If you already have a MyChart account with another health system, you will need to create a MyChart with Beebe to securely access your health information and link your accounts.
