The Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School is proud to present – by special permission of MTI – “Disaster!” by Seth Rudetsky and Jack Plotnick.
“This show is a total hoot,” said Take Two advisor and Sussex Central High School drama instructor David Warick. “It takes all the disaster movies of the 1970s and creates a hilarious mashup of all of them, using musical hits from the Seventies as the score.”
The show is running April 4 at 7:00 p.m. and April 5 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. at the Premiere Center for the Performing Arts at Sussex Central High School. (Please note the change in dates from the IRSD district calendar, which lists the show for the following week).
“Audiences will really be delighted with the variety of music in this show,” Warick added. “It has everything from disco to power pop ballads to the goofy novelty numbers so popular in that era. Old timers will love the references and younger audiences will really enjoy hearing a totally different kind of music to modern pop and rock hits. Plus, our all-new pit band – consisting of teenage musicians led by our new SCHS music instructor, Thomas Oxbrough – will literally floor everyone with their talent!”
Tickets are available online at https://our.show/h2fh9miijp for $12 (not including a processing fee). Online payment is preferred and Take Two offers an automatic discount for online purchases. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15 per ticket. However, no one will be turned away for inability to pay. Concessions and drinks will be available at a separate cost.
“Disaster” is appropriate for adults, teens and tweens. The over-the-top accidents and mayhem that are part of the parodies may be frightening to younger children and emotionally-sensitive audience members. Strobing lights, fog and other special effects will also be used, so sensorially-challenged audience members should be advised to exercise personal judgement and caution.
Take Two Drama Club is a non-profit club and drama booster’s organization (501c3) which supports the production of plays and musicals for the students of Sussex Central High School and the surrounding communities. All ticket proceeds go directly back into production of future shows and to supporting the students of Sussex Central in studying and creating theatre.
