The Honorable Sonia Augusthy was publicly sworn in for her first term as Judge of the Superior Court of Delaware on Thursday, July 31, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. in Courtroom 7E of the Leonard L. Williams Justice Center in Wilmington.
President Judge Eric M. Davis welcomed the audience to the Investiture. The Honorable Calvin L. Scott, Judge of the Superior Court of Delaware, administered the Oath of Office. After the Oath, Kevin O’Connell, Chief Defender, Office of Defense Services, and Dan Logan, Chief Deputy Attorney General, Department of Justice, offered remarks.
Judge Augusthy was appointed to the Superior Court of Delaware by Governor Matthew S. Meyer in May 2025. Prior to joining the bench, Judge Augusthy served as an Assistant Public Defender, representing clients in Superior Court from case inception through sentencing.
During her time as a Public Defender, she engaged in policy analysis and contributed to legislative efforts. Prior to working as a Public Defender, Judge Augusthy served as a prosecutor at the Delaware Department of Justice in a variety of roles, including Director o the Office of Civil Rights & Public Trust. As a frequent panelist and speaker, she has presented on topics related to criminal law and trial ethics. Judge Augusthy has served on the Delaware Board of Bar Examiners, the Superior Court Criminal Rules Committee, and the SENTAC Subcommittee on Sentencing Reform. She is a member of the Delaware State Bar Association, the Rodney Inn of Court, and the Herrmann Technology Inn of Court.
Judge Augusthy earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Temple University in Philadelphia. In 2007, she earned a Juris Doctorate, cum laude, from Widener University School of Law (now Delaware Law School). She completed executive legal education in Generative AI from Berkeley Law.
