
The 2025 Minerva Marrero Scholarship Program Awards Ceremony was held in Dover, on August 2nd.

At the event, were recognized seven exceptional young women who embody the bright future of the Hispanic community: Ana Rodriguez Vazquez, Erika Bustos, Evelyn Velasquez-Velasquez, Jasmin Mendoza-Aragon, Maliyany Garcia Reyes, Melisa Velasquez-Zunun, and Natividad Morales Chun.

Their achievements are a testament to the legacy of Minerva Marrero, a woman who dedicated her life to opening doors and creating opportunities for future Hispanic generations.

Since 1979, the Hispanic Student Recognition Program (HSRP) has highlighted the achievements of exceptional Hispanic students in Delaware.
In 2023 the LACC decided to expand and evolve the program and create the Minerva Marrero Hispanic Scholarship Program. Named after one of the original HSRP founders, this program provides scholarships to Delaware Hispanic high school seniors who enroll in a post-secondary program (2-year, 4-year, or trade school) after graduation.
The Latin American Community Center Minerva Marrero Hispanic Scholarship Program (MMHSP) provides monetary scholarships for Hispanic high school seniors in the State of Delaware to support their post-high school educational aspirations. Winners are selected based on academic merit, community involvement, and financial need. Funds directly support providing scholarships to these youth.
