Georgetown, DE – La Red Health Center has been awarded a contract by the Delaware Division of Public Health to manage the Sussex Technical and Vocational High School Wellness Center. Starting July 1, 2011 La Red Health Center has hired the existing school based wellness staff to ensure a smooth transition from the previous vendor.

“We currently serve high school students and their families every day at both our Georgetown and Seaford offices,” said La Red Health Center Chief Executive Officer Brian S. Olson. “This arrangement is ideal for both organizations and for the community.”

The partnership will create one major change. The State of Delaware has required all medical vendors in school based wellness centers to charge for services. La Red Health Center has contracted with Medicaid for reimbursement and will use its existing sliding fee scale to provide discounts to uninsured students. Details for submitting claims to private insurances are still being negotiated by the Division of Public Health.

The Wellness Center allows teens to access services such as physical examinations, health screenings, including those for communicable infections, immunizations, behavioral health, nutrition and weight management and group counseling.

La Red Health Center has been providing quality healthcare to all residents of Sussex County for more than 10 years. La Red Health Center currently provides primary care services to children, adolescents, adults and seniors – including immunizations, school, sports, and work physicals, diabetes and cancer screenings, behavioral health services to treat depression, domestic violence, alcohol and substance abuse, health education classes, women’s health services, dental care, access to medications, access to transportation, and translation/interpretation services.
