January 3, 2024—Newark DE. Autism Delaware announced today that the Walk for Autism returns as an April event in 2024. The annual event had been moved to October for safety and logistical reasons during COVID restrictions. “It makes sense to return our largest community gathering and fundraising event to the month of April,” notes Autism Delaware’s director of fund development and community engagement, Dan Getman, CFRE, “because April is Autism Acceptance and Inclusion Month in Delaware. For the past 17 years, the Walk has been a way of showing acceptance and inclusion of individuals on the spectrum while also fundraising for the programs and services that support them and their families. On Saturday, April 13, the first leg of this statewide event steps off at Ft. DuPont in Delaware City. And on Saturday, April 20, the second leg takes place at Hudson Fields in Milton.” More information is available and registration is now open at https://p2p.onecause.com/2024walkforautism.

Event coordinators hope to raise $110,000 for Autism Delaware’s programs and services. To ensure that all the raised funds go where they will do the most good, Autism Delaware relies on the generosity of sponsors. As the event’s 2024 presenting sponsor, the Delaware City Refining Company is helping to defray the cost of presenting the Walk at two sites across the state. Still available are various levels of Walk sponsorship that offer a range of benefits.
