Newark, Del. — AmeriHealth Caritas Delaware, a Medicaid managed care health plan serving Delawareans using Medicaid and long-term services and supports, announced that it has appointed Lenaye Lawyer, M.D., FACOG, as its market chief medical officer. Dr. Lawyer is responsible for the health plan’s clinical and educational initiatives that will drive member health outcomes, such as care management, medical education, and quality management.
Dr. Lawyer has worked with Medicaid and other government health programs for more than 20 years, both as a practicing OB/GYN and a health care executive. She has been with AmeriHealth Caritas since July 2016, most recently serving as one of the family of companies’ corporate medical directors. Dr. Lawyer previously held leadership roles at Executive Health Resources, Delmarva Foundation, and KePRO.
Dr. Lawyer is a graduate of Howard University College of Medicine, and completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Maryland. She is a fellow of the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She began her career as an OB/GYN in private practice and federally qualified health centers.
